Free Will Quote

Jawaharlal Nehru said "Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will." This means that everyone is determined to live the life they want, but the choices they make to get there is all up to them. This quote is right the choices you make "in the game" can affect whether you win or lose in the world. This can be clearly seen in Go Ask Alice by an anonymous author. In the book there are many great examples of free will. The whole book is based on the free will of Alice and whether she follows the in crowd, going to a party, and if she should give in to the temptations of fitting in to a new school.

I Am Alice (From the Novel Go Ask Alice)

I am tempted and confused
I wonder if I made the right choice
I hear voices in my head telling me to stop
I see my life being washed away by the choices I make
I want to be free
I am tempted and confused

I pretend like I know what I'm doing
I feel alone
I touch my skin to feel the scars
I worry about my safety
I cry to be set free
I am tempted and confused

I understand that this isn't good for me
I say I will be fine
I dream that I can stop
I try stop
I hope I can stop
I am tempted and confused

Go Ask Alice

The novel Go Ask Alice is a great example of Free Will. This book is like a diary and in it Alice is recording the events that happen throughout her life. She talks about the temptations that she faces, the choices she makes, and how they affect her life. In the book Alice is faced with making a lot of hard decisions, and ultimately they turn her life upside down. Free will plays a big role in this book because every thing that happens to her is because of the choices she makes.

Hero

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." - Christopher Reeve ("Superman")

What Christopher Reeve is trying to say is a hero isn't born a hero. A hero is just an ordinary person that can spot something wrong and have the courage to do something about it even if it puts them in danger.
I agree with Christopher because to be a hero you don't need to be high in society. Soldiers are the countries idea of a hero, and the men and women that join the army don't come from a high social life where everyone knows who they are around the world. They come from across the United States and decide that they want to defend the Country no matter what the consequences are.
My personal hero is my youth leader because she went through a big struggle with cancer. She was just a regular person and then one day everything changed when she found out she had cancer. She found the strength to keep persevering and to fight the cancer and she won. She was just a normal person who was faced with a huge obstacle and decided to fight for her life with all her strength. She knew that it would be hard, but she kept on fighting. She is my definition of a hero she didn't have super powers, she didn't have to save someones life, but she did fight cancer and won.

The Small Golden Puppy #30

Hernan, Isai, and Samuel were walking into Dalton High School one morning when they noticed a small Golden Retriever walking behind them. They stopped and looked at the dog and Isai got an idea. He decided that he would take the dog with him so it wouldn't be lonely for the rest of the day. So Samuel picked up the dog and put it in Isai's book bag and left a little crack so it could breathe. As they walked into school they checked to see if anyone saw them with the dog. When the coast was clear they walked up the ramp to Mrs. Triplett's class. When they walked into the room Isai's bag started shaking from the dog jumping around inside. Everyone in the class turned around and Hernan quickly grabbed his bag to stop the fast motion coming from the bag. "What's the date?" someone asked. "It's March 23, 2014." Samuel answered. Isai's book bag started barking and everyone turned around to look. The dog wiggled out of the bag and started to run around the room. Everyone was jumping around trying to catch the fast dog. "That dog is a cheetah!" a student yelled. Hernan jumped over the desk and caught the dog. Everyone looked around the room. There were papers every where. Hernan looked up at Mrs. Triplett as she was pointing at the door. All three boys went out in the hallway with the dog. After a long conversation explaining why they brought the dog in the school Mrs. Triplett decided that they could keep the dog as a class pet, and everyone was very excited about the new addition to the classroom.
